According to CNBC, the federal agency that oversees Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac has stated that both will continue to back larger mortgages despite earlier aims to reduce their role in that part of the business. Citing timing (“not right”) and other regulations set to go into effect Jan 1st, the agency will hold off on any role-reduction, however the fees it charges to lenders will continue to increase
